AEROVAC fire dampers — the FD-11 among them — UL Listed to UL 555, in curtain-type and multi-blade patterns with a fusible link that releases the blades to close the duct when surrounding air reaches 74 °C. Rated for 1½ or 3 hours to match the fire resistance of the barrier they sit in, and manufactured at Prime A/C Industries' ISO 9001:2015 facility in Dubai Investments Park.

Installed wherever ductwork crosses a fire-rated wall or floor, so the barrier's rating is not defeated by the opening cut through it, sealing off supply or extract air to stop fire spreading through the central HVAC system. The damper must sit inside the plane of the barrier with a listed sleeve and retaining angles, and an access door has to be provided within reach of the link — an inaccessible fire damper cannot be tested and will fail the annual inspection.
