AEROVAC combination fire and smoke dampers carrying both UL 555 and UL 555S listings in one assembly, with a spring-return actuator, an electro-thermal link and end-switch feedback. One unit replaces the separate fire damper and smoke damper that would otherwise be installed in series in the same duct run.

Used at duct penetrations through fire compartment walls that are also smoke control boundaries — the usual case in hospitals, hotels, airports and any building with a pressurised escape route. The actuator drops the blades on loss of power or on a fire alarm signal, and the same actuator can be driven open again for post-fire smoke clearance without replacing a fusible link, which is what makes a combination damper worth its cost over two separate devices.
