- Non-return valves in swing, lift, dual-plate and spring-loaded silent patterns, opening on forward flow and closing under reverse pressure. Silent check valves close before flow reverses, which is what prevents the slam that damages pipework and hangers.
Application
Installed on every pump discharge in duty/standby sets so the standby pump is not driven backwards, on booster set risers, and on make-up and city-water connections to protect against back-siphonage. Spring-loaded silent types are specified on chilled water and fire pump discharges where check valve slam would otherwise be heard through the building.
