Exit and Panic Devices ANSI
- Von Duprin 98/99 Series Grade 1 wide-stile pushpad exit devices for high-abuse commercial and institutional openings, in rim (99), surface vertical rod (9927), concealed vertical rod (9947) and mortise (9975) configurations — the 98 has a smooth end cap and the 99 a grooved one, otherwise identical. Fire-rated versions carry the -F suffix
- Falcon covers the same functions at the value tier.
- Required on stair and final exit doors serving assembly, educational and high-occupancy spaces under NFPA 101. The device must release with a single motion of not more than 67 N applied anywhere along the bar, which is why an exit door fitted with a separate deadbolt or a night latch fails inspection even when the panic device itself is correct. Fire-rated devices have no dogging feature, because a fire exit device must latch every time the door closes.
