LV Fire resistance Power cables (600/1000)V
About
- XLPE power cables with an LSZH sheath for rated voltages up to 1 kV, armoured or non-armoured. Ramcro manufactures its fire resistant range under the RAMFIRECRO-F3 sub-brand and 2MKablo under FireKab, both built to BS 6387 C-W-Z, BS 7629, IEC 60331-21 and EN 50200.
Application
Cables are used in areas and applications where electrical integrity of the cable has to remain intact for at least three hours, so as to activate and maintain crucial functions such as firefighting, public announcements, smoke extraction systems, sprinklers, emergency lighting, evacuation path lighting systems etc. those cables are installed in open air, underground, indoor and in cable ducts. Shielded types are allowed to use it as neutral-protective or earthed conductor. simultaneously, this also is permitted to apply it as a screen. Armoured types would be able to bear external mechanical forces. Lead sheathed types are designed to be used in any applications where the cables may be subjected to solvent penetration or corrosive attack or hydrocarbons.
Standards & Reference 12 cited
IEC 60502-1
The construction and testing rules for extruded-insulation power cables rated up to 1 kV. It is the baseline a low-voltage power cable is built to before any fire or environmental rating is added on top.
BS 7846
Fire-resistant armoured power cables at 600/1000 V, classified by how long the circuit survives. The armoured fire-performance cable for pumps, generators and other equipment that must run while a building burns.
BS 6387 C-W-Z
A cable that has passed all three BS 6387 tests: it maintained its circuit through direct flame, through flame with water spray, and through flame with mechanical shock. The grade specified for life-safety circuits.
BS 7629
Fire-resistant screened cables with a low-smoke, halogen-free sheath, for fixed installations. Typically the detection and alarm wiring rather than the power feed.
IEC 60331-21
Circuit integrity under fire: whether a cable keeps carrying current while it burns. This is the property that separates a fire-resistant cable from a merely flame-retardant one.
EN 50200
Fire resistance of the small cables used in emergency circuits: alarm, detection and evacuation wiring, tested for circuit survival rather than flame spread.
IEC 60332-1-2
The single-cable vertical flame test in its current part numbering. Same property as IEC 60332-1: the cable does not spread fire along itself.
IEC 60332-3-24
Flame spread on a bundle of cables in a vertical tray, Category C. A cable can pass the single-cable test and still spread fire when hundreds are bunched in a riser, which is what this addresses.
IEC 61034-1/2
Smoke density from a burning cable, measured in a sealed chamber. Low smoke is an evacuation requirement: people leave a building by sight.
IEC 60754-1
How much halogen acid gas the cable gives off when it burns. Halogen-free matters where people or sensitive equipment share the space with the cable.
IEC 60754-2
The acidity and conductivity of the gases a burning cable produces: in effect, how corrosive the smoke is to the building and its equipment.
LPCB Certified
Third-party certification by the Loss Prevention Certification Board, whose Red Book listing is widely called for on life-safety products in the Gulf.
