Fire-Rated Doors
- Fire-rated door assemblies from 20 minutes to 3 hours, tested and labelled as a complete assembly of leaf, frame, hardware and glazing. The label applies to the assembly exactly as tested — substituting any one component invalidates the rating for all of them, which is why the ironmongery schedule and the door schedule have to be read together.
- Required at every opening in a fire-rated barrier: stair enclosures, corridor cross-walls, plant rooms, electrical rooms and shaft access. The commonest cause of failure at inspection is not the door but what was added to it — a kick-down hold-open, a drilled-through sign fixing or a site-cut vision panel each void the certification, and each is usually added after handover by someone who never saw the label.
