Limp Mass Barriers

- Reinforced limp mass vinyl barriers supplied from ½ to 2½ PSF (2.5 to 12.5 kg/m²) surface weight, adding transmission loss without adding stiffness. Being limp is the whole point — a stiff sheet of identical weight resonates and loses performance right across the speech band, which is where the complaint usually sits.
- Wrapped around noisy ductwork, drainage stacks and pipe risers passing through occupied areas, laid over ceilings, and built into partition cavities and equipment enclosures. Lagging a soil stack in a shaft next to a bedroom is the standard remedy for the complaint about hearing the flat above use the bathroom — the barrier goes on the pipe, not on the wall, because that is where the source is.
