Fire Resistance Cables LSZH 950C V
About
- Fire resistant cables that keep circuit integrity and continue to operate in the presence of a fire for a specified time under defined conditions to BS standards. Ramcro builds these as RAMFIRECRO-F3 and 2MKablo as FireKab, with LPCB-certified variants in both ranges.
Application
Fire resistant cables are used when the cables are required to keep circuit integrity and continue to operate in the presence of a fire for a specified time under defined conditions.
Standards & Reference 14 cited
BS 6387 C-W-Z (950 °C for 3 hrs)
A cable that has passed all three BS 6387 tests: it maintained its circuit through direct flame, through flame with water spray, and through flame with mechanical shock. The grade specified for life-safety circuits.
BS 8434-2
The enhanced fire survival test for small cables in alarm systems, used where BS 5839-1 calls for enhanced grade.
EN 50200
Fire resistance of the small cables used in emergency circuits: alarm, detection and evacuation wiring, tested for circuit survival rather than flame spread.
BS 5839-1
The British code of practice for fire detection and alarm systems in non-domestic buildings: what decides which cable grade a circuit needs.
IEC 60331-21
Circuit integrity under fire: whether a cable keeps carrying current while it burns. This is the property that separates a fire-resistant cable from a merely flame-retardant one.
IEC 60332-1
Flame propagation on a single vertical cable. It shows the cable will not carry a fire along its own length, which is the minimum expected of any cable in an occupied building.
IEC 60332-3-24
Flame spread on a bundle of cables in a vertical tray, Category C. A cable can pass the single-cable test and still spread fire when hundreds are bunched in a riser, which is what this addresses.
IEC 61034
Smoke density from a burning cable, measured in a sealed chamber. Low smoke is an evacuation requirement: people leave a building by sight.
IEC 60754-1
How much halogen acid gas the cable gives off when it burns. Halogen-free matters where people or sensitive equipment share the space with the cable.
IEC 60754-2
The acidity and conductivity of the gases a burning cable produces: in effect, how corrosive the smoke is to the building and its equipment.
BASEC
Independent British cable approval: verification that a cable is made to the standard its printing claims.
LPCB Certified
Third-party certification by the Loss Prevention Certification Board, whose Red Book listing is widely called for on life-safety products in the Gulf.
RoHS & REACH
Made within both the EU restrictions on hazardous substances in electrical equipment and the wider EU chemical registration and authorisation regime.
